Ovarian cancer is a devastating condition. 1 in 75 women will be diagnosed with this disease sometime in their life.* Besides its frequency, it also poses challenges since no early detection test exists. Colon cancer is second only to lung cancer in the number of cancer-related deaths in the United States. However, with early detection, colon cancer is treatable and beatable. The Colon Cancer Coalition reports a 90% survival rate when the disease is diagnosed in the early and localized stages, although only 40% of diagnoses occur in this stage. Awareness is essential to prevention of this disease, and events like this promote public education of the disease and improve screenings rates. The Colon Cancer Coalition goal is to save 200,000 lives before 2030, and events like “Get Your Rear in Gear” are essential to reaching this target.
