PANTHERX® Specialty Pharmacy is proud to announce a corporate sponsorship for the Colon Cancer Awareness 5K Run/Walk taking place on September 9th, 2017 in Beaver, PA. This region’s “Get Your Rear in Gear” event is organized by Valley Gastroenterology Associates in Chippewa, Pennsylvania and Three Rivers Endoscopy in Moon, Pennsylvania. “Get Your Read in Gear” benefits the Colon Cancer Coalition, which has granted millions of dollars to support local programs that provide early screenings and patient support services for the disease.

Colon cancer is second only to lung cancer in the number of cancer-related deaths in the United States. However, with early detection, colon cancer is treatable and beatable. The Colon Cancer Coalition reports a 90% survival rate when the disease is diagnosed in the early and localized stages, although only 40% of diagnoses occur in this stage. Awareness is essential to prevention of this disease, and events like this promote public education of the disease and improve screenings rates. The Colon Cancer Coalition goal is to save 200,000 lives before 2030, and events like “Get Your Rear in Gear” are essential to reaching this target.
